Prince William County Police charged Talisa Lynn Edwards, 27, of The Plains, following an alleged assault on a 27-year-old Gainesville woman Wednesday.

According to police, Edwards and the victim, an acquaintance, were involved in an argument, which escalated at a business in the 7400 block of Hillwood Drive in Gainesville.

"During the encounter, the accused allegedly shoved the victim to the ground then punched her in the face," police spokesman Officer Nathan Probus said.  'The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police."

The accused fled the area following the incident; the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

"Following the investigation, officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused who was located and arrested at her residence in Fauquier County," Probus said.

Police charged Edwards with unlawful wounding.

Her court date is Jan. 25, 2017 and she is held on a $10,000 secured bond.
