UPDATED: GHBL Goes Undefeated at World Series After Four Games

The Gainesville Haymarket Baseball League 14-year-old All-Stars have gone undefeated at the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series from Pine Bluff, Arkansas as of Tuesday.

League president Dr. Michael Bishop provided the following game summaries:

Game 1 (Aug. 15, 2015)

GHBL won Game 1 v. the host team from Pine Brook, 4-1 in ten innings. Jack Velardi was player of the game with four hits including a squeeze bunt for a hit to put the team up 2-1 in the top of the 10th. Andrew Casey went seven innings giving up two hits and one unearned run, while Lane Pearson closed out the final three innings allowing two hits and zero runs.

Game 2 (Aug. 16, 2015)

The GHBL 14-year-old All-Stars won game two of pool play 13-8 vs Missouri on Sunday. They took an early 11-1 lead. Blaze OSaben was named player of the game going 4-5 from the plate.

Game 3 (Aug. 17, 2015)

The GHBL 14-year-old All-Stars win again! They beat Alabama 6-3. Lane Pearson was named player of the game. He threw a seven inning complete game, scattering four hits while striking out 9. Pearson also had 1 hit and 2 RBI’s, as Cole Western led the attack with 2 hits while 6 other players also had a hit, including Andrew Casey and Jack Velardi who both also had 2 RBI’s. Both teams entered the game with a 2-0 record in the National League Pool. The GHBL 14-year-old All-Star team has the only undefeated record in the National Pool.

Game 4 (Aug. 18, 2015)

The GHBL 14-year-old All-Stars won v. the host team from Seabrook, Arkansas 14-6.  Jalen Cinco got the win on the bump going four innings.  Andrew Casey and Cole Western closed the game out.  Blaze O’Saben and Drew Wann led the attack with 5 hits and 6 RBI’s between them. O’Saben was named player of the game for the second time. They have secured a spot in the single elimination round, which starts Aug. 19,2015.
