Prince William County Police responded to the 16100 block of Crusade Court in Haymarket Friday morning to investigate a burglary attempt.
According to the homeowner, while walking to a detached garage at 1:30 a.m., he encountered an individual standing next to his garage, which had been opened.
"When the homeowner challenged the suspect, he fled the area on foot," police spokesperson Nathan Probus said.
The homeowner reported no property missing.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
