policecar630x290A Haymarket man was arrested for felony child endangerment, domestic assault, and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer Thursday morning.

Haymarket Police charged Dominic Cornelius Ball, 28, of Haymarket with domestic assault and battery and felony child endangerment. The Prince William Police charged Ball with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer (LEO) and resisting arrest.

The incident began when a 29-year-old Haymarket woman reported to police that she had been assaulted by an acquaintance. Haymarket Police officers responded to a residence on Comanche Court in Haymarket (20169), Thursday around 11 a.m., to address the issue.

“During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim while she was still holding her 9-month-old child, knocking her to the floor,” said Prince William Police spokesperson, Officer Jonathan Perok.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The child was not injured.

However, officers were not able to apprehend the accused at the home as he left the residence prior to their arrival. Haymarket and Prince William officers eventually located him walking on nearby Rising Sun Lane.

"When the officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and struck one of the Prince William officers in the chest. After a brief struggle, the accused was detained without further incident," Perok said. "The officer was not injured."

Following the investigation, Ball was arrested.

A court date is pending for Ball. He is being held without bond.

A photo of the accused was not available.
