Haymarket Police took a male juvenile into custody 3:39 p.m. Nov. 1., after a resident observed him entering vehicles in the area of 15151 Washington Street.
"The reporting party continued to update law enforcement as he followed the fleeing teenager into a warehouse complex," Chief of Police Eric Noble said. "Units from the Haymarket Police Department, Virginia State Police and Prince William County Police Department were able to secure a perimeter around the warehouse and a subsequent search located the juvenile hiding on the top shelf of a shelving unit."
Noble said the boy was taken into custody on an outstanding detention order for violating probation.
Charges for trespassing and auto tampering are pending.
