UPDATED: Police Say Nokesville Bird Deaths no Danger to Public

The Prince William County Police Department is reassuring residents that the deaths of hundreds of birds, which were found yesterday on Aden Road, should not be considered a public hazard. "No need for public concern at this point," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. According to Perok, animal control is working with the health department to investigate the deaths of  the hundreds of birds found on Aden Road "A few of the birds have been sent off for testing, may take some time to get results," he said. Agencies including Prince William County Police, the Virginia Department of Transportation, the health department and animal control officials responded to Aden Road to investigate the incident. Police feel there is no immediate health threat to the general public. Posters on social media offered a wide range of speculation on the cause of the deaths; several report the birds fell from the sky. A section of Aden Road was closed for a short time, while VDOT removed the birds. Bristow Beat will continue to update the story as more details become available.
