Following Jeanne Lawson's victory in the Special Election to decide the new Brentsville District Supervisor, Independent candidate Scott Jacobs, who earned 15 percent of the vote, released a statement Tuesday night.

My friends, my family, and all of my fellow residents of the Brentsville District,

I want to start off by thanking everyone in my life for their endless support throughout this nearly one year journey I have been on.

This campaign was never about anything except giving the people of my hometown the level of representation that they deserve as a truly special and unique community. We live at a time when the future of the Brentsville District and Prince William County is ours to decide. We can either continue down the path that we are on as a bedroom community to the rest of Northern Virginia, or we can embrace our potential and become the technological and innovational epicenter of Virginia.

With so much on the line the leadership that our district has right now is of critical importance, and that is the only reason why I threw my hat in the ring in this election.

I would also like to say that I am extremely proud of the civility that all of the candidates brought to this race. Both Jeanine and Eric ran their campaigns with the utmost dignity and respect for everyone involved and that is as important to this district as any other aspect of this campaign. The way that we treat those with different opinions shows a lot about who we are as a community, and I am proud to say that we all represented the Brentsville District well.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Jeanine Lawson on her hard-fought victory. Jeanine and her conservative principles will guide this district well. I wish Jeanine the best of luck and look forward to helping her from the grassroots in any way that I can.

Thank you again to all of my friends, family, and supporters.
