The Prince William Department of Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the 13500 Block of Rumsey Court in Bristow, Saturday at 5:05 p.m., to respond to a townhouse fire.

When firefighters arrived they witnessed “heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure,” and “extensive damage to the one townhouse” said Prince William Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Matt Smolsky.

The fire severely damaged one home and caused moderate damage to attached units.

"Everyone was evacuated safely," Smolsky said.

We have since learned that two family of two adults and a total of five children were displaced. The Red Cross has offered its assistance.
