Man Falls to Death in Gainesville

policedoor700pxA man, working on the roof of a construction site, fell to his death in Gainesville at 8:27 a.m., Thursday.

The man, a hired construction worker, was working at 16100 Thoroughfare Road in Gainesville when he fell through the roof into the building, a new build, and died.

“He fell through to the basement. He was killed as a result," police spokesperson Officer Nathan Probus said.

Probus said the man was not airlifted. He may have been declared dead at the scene.

There are no suspicions of foul play. It is believed to be an accident.

Police are withholding the name of the deceased. Probus said police do not release the names of those who die in accidents, but they will release more information  when it becomes available.

OCEA (Office of Trade and Economic Analysis) is investigating the accident scene, which Probus said is typical in work-related deaths.
