Manassas Boy Dies, following Dirt Bike Accident

policedoor700pxColby Thomas Smith, an 11-year-old Manassas boy, died Sunday, due to injuries sustained during a dirt bike accident.

According to Prince William Police, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 8400 block of Cabin Branch Court in Manassas (20111), at 1:27 p.m., Oct. 11, to investigate a crash involving a dirt bike.

The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as an 11-year-old boy, was riding a 2007 CR85 Honda dirt bike with two other acquaintances on private property along a dirt track in the wooded area above.

"At one point, the victim lost control and struck a tree," said police spokesperson, Officer Jonathan Perok.

Smith was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later as a result of injuries.

The victim was wearing a helmet at the time at the time of the incident.
