A Manassas man was charged with burglary and destruction of property following a domestic dispute Thursday.

Prince William Police Officers responded to Somerset Lane in Manassas (20110) to investigate a domestic dispute Dec. 3 at 10 p.m.

After an investigation into the matter, police arrested Emilio Martin Vega, 21, of Rugby Road in Manassas, charging him with burglary and destruction of property.

The victim, a 46-year-old man of Manassas, reported to police that Vega, an acquaintance of his, came to his residence to confront a female acquaintance over an ongoing issue.

“During the encounter, the accused began to pound on the front door and, at one point, attempted to forcibly enter the residence once being confronted by the victim to leave,” police spokesperson, Officer Jonathan Perok, said. "The accused also broke a window to the residence and caused damage to the front door."

Officers arrived and detained the accused without further incident. No injuries were reported.

A court date for Emilio Martin Vega has been set for Jan. 23. He has been released on a secured bond of $7,000.
