Manassas Man Commits Suicide After SWAT Team Barricade

Posted

A man committed suicide at 12:40 a.m. Friday morning after SWAT teams, looking to serve an arrest warrant, surrounded a house on Crossed Sabres Court, Manassas.

The police and SWAT standoff lasted over six hours. One resident accounts that he heard police using a megaphone asking the man inside the house to come out and that he would not be harmed.

At 12:30 a.m., an explosion was heard followed by two gunshots, by what sounded like a rifle. And then five more single shots were heard, ending in silence at 12:40 a.m.

Prince William spokesperson Officer Perok said the barricade ended when police discovered the man they had been trying to arrest had taken his own life with a gunshot wound.
