While the incident remains under investigation, officials identified Sergeant Eusebio Lopez, 25, of Pacifica, Calif., as the shooter of two marines on Quantico Marine Corps base March 21.

Following the shooting of Lance Corporal Sara Castromata, 19, of Oakley, Calif. and Corporal Jacob Wooley, 23, of Guntown, Miss., Lopez allegedly turned the gun on himself.

"The three Marines were pronounced dead at the scene by law enforcement personnel," spokesman 1st Lt. Agustin Solivan said.

All three were staff members at the Officers Candidate School. Officials held the names of all three individuals until officials notified their next of kin.

"The incident remains under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service," Solivan said. Castromata, who joined the Marine Corps in 2011, served as a warehouse clerk. Although she was not deployed, she received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. She was recently promoted to her current rank in Feb.

Wooley, who joined in the Marine Corp in 2010, was a field radio operator. He was also not deployed; however, he was awarded the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He was promoted to Corporal in 2012.

Officers Candidate School instructor Lopez was a tactics instructor at the school and his specialty was machine-gunner. His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation 3rd award, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal 2nd award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon 4th award.

Lopez served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We send our prayers and condolences to the families, fellow Marines and friends of the Marines who were lost in this tragic incident," said Col. David W. Maxwell, commander, Marine Corps Base Quantico. "Our priority is to take care of and support all of those who are affected by this loss."
