Prince William County Police charged Justin Patrick Branick, 21, of Nokesville with felony child abuse following a Dec. 21 incident at the Bristow Center Tiger Martial Arts Academy.

According to police, Branick, an instructor, severely injured a 5-year-old male.

" grabbed by the ankle, then threw him over his shoulder and onto the ground causing the victim to lose consciousness,” police spokesperson Officer Nathan Probus said. “Another employee of the business was made aware of the incident and contacted police.”

Probus said at this point the investigation has not yielded any prior incidents.

The boy was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for “serious injuries,” he said.

Police arrested Branick without incident.

His court date is pending and he was released on a $5,000 bond.
