New Movie Theater to Open by Thanksgiving

Residents can expect to enjoy a movie theater experience much closer to home later this year.

At the Prince William Chamber of Commerce Real Estate Showcase: 2013 Economic Development Update Wednesday morning, it was announced that the Promenade at Virginia Gateway movie theater in Gainesville would open before the end of the year.

“The movie theater is well under construction now,” said Emcee Steve Daves of R.W. Murray Co. “ It should be open by Thanksgiving in time for the second 'Hunger Games.'”

The theater currently under construction along Linton Hall Road is a 58,961  sq. ft. multiplex to be operated by Regal Cinema. It will be situated in the middle of a luxury retail center that includes fine dining and popular restaurants.

The building of the Promenade also coincides with road improvements along Route 29, Linton Hall Road Overpass and Route 66, making it easier for motorists to get to and around western Prince William County.

The movie theater and Promenade shops are likely to attract visitors from nearby jurisdictions as well, meeting one of the Chamber's goals. Like Potomac Mills on the eastern side of the county, which is increasing its appeal with new stores and restaurants such as Bobby Flay's Burger Palace and Bahama Breeze Island Grill, the Promenade  at Virginia Gateway developed by Peterson Companies is expected to be an entertainment destination for western Prince William.
