Prince William County Police charged a 32-year-old Nokesville man for the attempted malicious wounding/assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, manufacturing marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with narcotics Oct. 27.

A female acquaintance was charged with manufacturing marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm with narcotics.

Officers arrived at the suspect's home on Reid Lane in Nokesville early Sunday morning to investigate a gunshot that had been reported that evening, by a friend of the suspect's, a 28-year old Gainesville man.

The young man and another friend were visiting the home, Sunday evening when according to Police, the accused began to act irrationally.

“The suspect began to act disorderly and ordered everyone to leave his residence," police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok said.

Gunshot were heard soon after they exiting the residence.

“As the victim was walking down the driveway, he heard what sounded like a gunshot, came from the front porch area of the home,” Perok said.

Police officers arrived at the residence to investigate the incident and were speaking with the accused, when allegedly the accused lunged and struck one of the officers. Police reported no injuries.

However, upon further investigation of the residence, officers discovered a “marijuana grow operation.” A search warrant was then issued, and the subsequent search of the home yielded marijuana, syringes, multiple handguns and other property.

Police will continue their investigation.
