Prince William County Police charged Brandon Matthew Wood, 38, of Nokesville with falsely summoning the police following reports that he called the afternoon of April 9 claiming that there were shots fired inside a residence.

"The caller, later identified as the accused, reported to police that someone was firing a gun inside the residence," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "Multiple officers responded to a blocked off the area."

Perok said police made contact with a female resident, who exited the home with her child. Once the woman was outside, police determined that no shots were actually fired.

"The accused was further determined to be wanted in Prince William County on unrelated assault charges," he said. "The accused eventually exited the home and was arrested without further incident."

Wood's court date is May 11 and he is being held without bond.
