NOVEC Recycles Christmas Trees, Offers Mulch to Customers

Posted

To help reduce post-holiday waste and prevent potential fire hazards, NOVEC will accept cut Christmas trees, wreaths and other greens at its Gainesville Technical Center.

NOVEC customers may leave greenery at the center, located at 5399 Wellington Branch Road, in the front parking lot in the area designated by orange safety cones.

According to NOVEC, greens must be free of all decorations, metal ornament hooks, and light strings.

"After Jan. 13, we'll turn the trees into mulch, available for Co-op customers,"  NOVEC spokesperson Priscilla Knight said.

From NOVEC:

NOVEC tree crews will chop the greens into wood chips. They will deliver the wood-chip mulch to interested customer-owners at no charge when right-of-way crews are working in nearby Co-op neighborhoods. Customers interested in free wood-chip mulch need to complete the request form at www.novec.com under “Customer Services.” Just click on “Products and Other Services” and select “Wood-Chip Mulch.”
