NWS Issues Freezing Rain Advisory for Sunday Night, Monday Morning

Posted

blackiceThe National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory in the area from 10 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m. Monday.

"Precipitation will begin from southwest to northeast late Sunday evening," NWS said. "Freezing rain will be possible through the   overnight hours, eventually becoming plain rain by Monday morning."

While expecting ice accumulation of less than a tenth of an inch, the weather may cause issues during the morning commute.

"Due to the recent cold waves, some surfaces may become icy even with an air temperature slightly above freezing," they said. "Typically shaded areas as well as bridges will be most susceptible to icing."

Pockets of light freezing rain may linger through Monday Morning over portions of the area. Temperatures will be in the lower 30's.
