NWS Issues Heat Advisory for Thursday

heatwave The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. According to the weather service, with heat index values up to 105 degrees and temperatures in the mid 90s and dewpoints in the lower 70s, there are increased risks for heat-related illness for those without air conditioning or those outdoors for an extended period. “The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” NWS said. NWS advises residents to take precautions if any time is spend outside. "Reschedule strenuous activity to early morning or evening," a forecaster said. "Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke; wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water." NWS forecasts the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

"Typical summer warmth and humidity will continue through the rest of the weekend and into next week," they said. "

Highs will generally be in the upper 80s to low 90s Sunday-Tuesday; residents may see a brief cooldown and a break in the higher humidity Wednesday.
