UPDATED: NWS Issues Wind Advisory for Thursday Following Winter Storm

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Dec. 27.

According to the NWS, wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph are expected behind 20 to 25 mph winds.

The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service is now in effect until 7:00 p.m.

NWS forecasts a wintry mix of rain and sleet with pockets  of freezing rain throughout the day.

Accumulations will be less than one inch of sleet accumulation and  a tenth of an inch or less of ice accumulation.

The National Weather Service has extended their Winter Weather Advisory until 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The service reports that a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will continue until early afternoon.

According to NWS, temperatures will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s throughout the day, with winds 10 to 20 mph with gust up to 35 mph.

Experts expect treacherous travel conditions due to the wintry mix of snow and ice. Police caution that motorists be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.

NWS forecasts rain overnight and patchy fog before 1 a.m. Temperatures will be in the mid to low 30s. It will be partly sunny on Thursday, with a high near 41.
