Police Charge Gainesville Man with Assault on Police Officer

policecrusierclosePrince William County Police arrested Mohsan Mahmood, 28, of Gainesville on multiple charges following a reported assault on a police officer.

According to police, after responding to the area of Sunset Drive and Impala Drive in Manassas for a reported robbery, officers determined that no crime occurred.

Following an investigation, police took Mahmood into custody.

"The accused was subsequently transported to the Community Service Board for a mental evaluation," police spokesman Officer Nathan Probus said. "During the encounter, the accused became agitated towards officers and Community Service Board staff then kicked and spit on two officers."

Police detained the suspect without further incident; no injuries were reported.

Mahmood is charged with two counts of assault & battery on a LEO, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of filing a false police report.

In July 2015, Mahood was reported missing and endangered by police. He was later found safe.

The suspect's curt date is Dec. 21, 2015 and he is held without bond.
