Police Charge Manassas Man After Attacking Officer

Prince William County Police charged Benedicto Hernandez-Aragon, 36, with assault & battery on a LEO, resisting arrest and intoxication in public following a Sept. 6 trespassing complaint.

According to police, Hernandez-Aragon was under the influence of alcohol when they approached him 11:22 p.m. in a wooded area in the 10700 block of Coverstone Drive in Manassas.

"When officers attempted to arrest the accused, he actively resisted and, at one point, pushed an officer," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "After a brief struggle, the accused was detained."

Police arrested the accused following the encounter and no injuries were reported.

Hernandez-Aragon's court date is scheduled for Oct. 27; he is being held without bond.
