Deceased Identified in Gainesville Route 29 Crash

Police have released the identity of the woman who died in the automobile accident in the area of Lee Highway/Route 29 and Lake Manassas Drive in Gainesville, Wednesday.

Investigators from the Prince William Crash Investigation Unit have identified her as Jana Lee Bennett, 75, of Gainesville.

The accident occurred at 3:46 p.m., June 1. According to The Washington Post, the 1999 Toyota Camry Bennett was driving made a left turn out of Lake Manassas Drive onto Lee Highway Southbound where it collided with a dump truck.

According to a prior police report, the Toyota sedan was found “fully engulfed in flames” and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police held the identity of the deceased until next of kin were notified.

Police identified the driver of another vehicle involved in the crash, a 2007 Sterling LT9500 truck, as a 47-year-old Woodbridge man.

The investigation into the multi-vehicle automobile accident continues.
