Residents of the Kingsbrooke community in Bristow reported to Prince William County Police that they heard gun shots at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday.
Following an investigation, police found shell casings in the roadway in the 8400 block of Coronation Lane.
"One of the callers also reported seeing two vehicles, described as a burnt orange hatchback and a silver 2-door sports car, fleeing the area following the gunshots," police spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Perok said.
Another witness reportedly saw a male with long hair, wearing a black hat, get into the hatchback.
There were no injuries or damage to property reported, Perok said.
Police are searching for both vehicles.
