Prince William County Police responded to the area of Lawnvale Drive and Sudley Road in Gainesville for reports of multiple gunshots at 3:33 a.m. Tuesday.
According to police, a caller reported the incident.
"Officers arrived in the area and located several shell casings in the roadway," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "No injuries or property damage were reported."
Police continue to investigate the incident, which they consider a reckless handling of a firearm.
