Prince William County Police were called to the Virginia Oaks Golf Course in Gainesville for a burglary on Saturday.

Following an investigation, police arrested Scott Douglas Gough, 26, without incident in a garage at the golf course.

At 12:23 a.m., officers arrived at 950 Virginia Oaks Drive to discover an open rear door to a garage on the property.

“The investigation revealed that the accused had forced the door to the garage open and made entry,” police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. “A golf cart located inside the garage had been moved partially out of a separate door.”

The accused, who has no fixed address, was charged with burglary and destruction of property.

According to police, no property had been stolen; however, damage was estimated around $2,000.

A court date is not yet available and Gough is being held without bond.
