The Prince William County Police canvassed Sheffield Manor late Thursday for a reported residential burglary on the 12300 block of Darton Woods Loop in Bristow.
According to the homeowner, the burglary occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m, potentially by an acquaintance.
"There were no signs of forced entry into the home," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "Entry into the home is believed to have been made by someone known to the homeowner."
The individual took a safe containing miscellaneous property, Perok said.
Police interviewed residents as late as midnight Thursday asking if they had seen suspicious activity during the day and if they sighted a gold car.
