UPDATE: Police Search for Nokesville Bank Robbery Suspect; Schools Secured

Updated: Mar 6, 2:12 p.m.  According to Prince William police spokesperson, Officer Jonathan Perok, the individual that robbed Carter Bank & Trust at the corner of Fitzwater Drive and Marsteller Drive in Nokesville early this afternoon did get away with an undisclosed sum of money. According to Perok, the male suspect entered the bank, and passed a note to the teller implying he had a gun. "Nothing was confirmed," said Perok. "He passed a note implying he had a weapon. He’s not in custody, so we don't know." The transaction took only a few minutes, then the young man exited the bank initially on foot. "We believe he got into a vehicle. We don’t believe he’s in the immediate area any more," Perok said. At the crime scene, Prince William Police Officers interviewed bank employees and took down their statements. The bank remained closed during that time. Five Prince William police cars were present, and  officers asked pedestrians to stand on the opposite side of the road. Carter Bank & Trust is a FDIC member bank, so their funds are insured up to $250,000 per account. Prince William County Schools have canceled the secure the building status at Brentsville District High School and Nokesville Elementary and have cleared school activities to resume.

"Police have given the all clear," Irene Cromer, Supervisor, Community Relations Office said.
Updated: Mar. 6, 12:20 p.m. Due to police activity in the area related to the potential bank robbery of Carter Bank & Trust, Brentsville District High School and Nokesville Elementary School are in secure the building status. "All remain safe indoors at Brentsville District HS and Nokesville ES while the precautionary secure the building status continues," Irene Cromer, Supervisor, Community Relations Office said. Access to the schools is restricted.
"Secure the building status means that the school is secured from outside entry," she said. "Outside activities are canceled and students are brought inside. All inside school activities continue as usual." Original Story: Prince William County Police report that a man entered the Carter Bank & Trust, located at 12912 Fitzwater Drive in Nokesville, Thursday morning and demanded money. According to police, the man implied he had a weapon, but fled the scene, possibly on foot. There have been no injuries reported. Police are searching for a white male in his early 20's, 5 feet 5 inches, 150lbs with a red mustache.
