Prince William Police are searching for an individual they say attacked a woman in the parking lot of the Super Target located in 9900 Sowder Village Square in Manassas and stole her purse at 6:50 p.m. Saturday.
According to the victim, a 58-year-old woman of Manassas, she was loading groceries into her vehicle when she was approached by an unknown man.
"During the encounter, the man reached for the victim’s purse that was sitting in her shopping cart," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "At the same time, the victim also reached for the purse which led to a struggle."
Perok said the suspect eventually pulled the purse away from the victim and fled through the parking lot on foot before getting into an awaiting vehicle, a blue, 4-door sedan with Va. license plates.
The victim wasn't injured, Perok said.
The suspect is described as a white male, 19 to 22 years old, 6 foot, 1 inch, 180 lbs with short hair; he was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket and blue jeans.
