UPDATED: Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flooding Expected Late Friday

The National Weather Service anticipates thunderstorms producing heavy rain, hail and even a chance of tornadoes late Friday into Saturday.

5:26 p.m.:  The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Western Prince William County until 7:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Warning for late Friday.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms may develop this afternoon after 4 p.m. and continue into the evening.

Storms may be severe, producing damaging winds, large hail and conditions exist to produce isolated tornadoes, they warned.

The heavy rainfall could also lead to flash flooding.

NWS forecasts a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Saturday, then showers likely. Overnight storms could be severe, producing heavy rain and chances of flooding. New rainfall amounts could be between a half and 3/4 of an inch.
