Children splash in the fountain at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway at last year's kick-off event.The Peterson Companies announced the interactive splash fountain at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway will reopen for the 2015 summer season May 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The splash fountain has proven to be a well-received feature of the center, especially on hot summer days and we’re pleased that the community enjoys the amenity," Peterson Companies spokesperson Joanna Caputi said.
The celebration Saturday will feature a performance by Milkshake's trio at 11 a.m., followed by a countdown to the opening of the fountain at 12 p.m. The coundown is sponsored by Inova Primary Care - Gainesville.
The kick-off will also include balloon twisters, face painters, and giveaways.
Parents can also receive information from the Prince William County Sheriff's Office on the"IDENT-A-CHILD" program and receive ID cards for their child.
"We’re excited to kick off our events season on Saturday with the re-opening of the interactive splash fountain and a performance by members of the Grammy nominated children’s rock group Milkshake.
