PWCSA Cancels Water Boil Advisory

pwcslogoThe Prince William County Service Authority announced Thursday evening that no bacterial contamination was found in water samples in the Gainesville and Haymarket area and residents may resume normal water use.

"As required by the Virginia Department of Health, bacteriological samples were collected over the course of two days and all samples tested negative for the presence of bacteria," PWCSA spokesman Kipp Hanley said. "We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Following a water main break off University Drive between U.S. 29 and Wellington Road Wednesday, PWCSA issued a Water Boil Notice, which affected residences, schools and businesses in the area.

PWCSA advised residents to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution.
