One of the most frequent questions residents have is: Where did that loud noise come from?

The Marine Base at Quantico has issued a noise alert from training or range clearance operations.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday – Feb. 11. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday – Feb. 12. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday – Feb 13. Explosive Munitions Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Thursday – Feb. 14. Explosive Munitions Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m
  • Friday – Feb 15. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday – Feb. 16. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Noise from effects of training vary depending on weather conditions,” a public affairs spokesman said. “Overcast conditions may increase noise and vibrations.”

All questions regarding this training should be directed to the Quantico Public Affairs Office at (703) 432-0305.
