Rob Wittman Declares Victory in House Race

With a 2/3rds majority, Republican incumbent Rob Wittman is declaring himself the winner in the race for the Virginia First Congressional District.

With 81.25 percent of precincts reporting, Wittman has 63.65 percent of the votes. Democratic opponent Norm Mosher has 33.86 percent of votes and Independent/Green Candidate Gail Parker has 2.5 percent of votes.

Wittman announced his early win on his Twitter page, saying, “I’m truly humbled to have been reelected to represent the 1st District in the House of Representatives.”

Wittman spoke with Bristow Beat a few hours ago in Bristow, commenting on the issues he felt was most important to Virginians.

I am truly humbled that the people of America's 1st District have again elected me to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives. I am eager to return to Washington next week and as part of the 114th Congress in January to serve my fellow Virginians and advocate for commonsense, responsible solutions to the challenges facing our nation.

Our nation is at a critical juncture, and a number of important decisions await us in Washington.
