Section of Route 15 to Close Sunday

Brentsville District Supervisor Wally Covington announced at Tuesday's Board meeting that Route 15/James Madison Highway will be closed between the intersections of Market Ridge Boulevard and Route 55/John Marshall Highway April 7 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

According to Covington, Gainesville and Haymarket residents are advised to avoid the area on Sunday so Norfolk Southern can perform some railroad work.

"All detours will be marked with detour signage, to help direct traffic around the work zone," he said.

The detour north and southbound traffic will include:

• Rte 15 James Madison Highway, northbound traffic, will follow the detour on Route 29 Lee Highway North. To I-66 West and exit back on to Route 15 James Madison Highway.
• Route 15/James Madison Highway, southbound traffic, will follow the detour, East bound Route 55/John Marshall Highway. Then turn right onto South bound Route 29/Lee Highway.

Four advance warning signs, which state  "RTE 15 CLOSED @ RR TRACKS 4/7/13 7 AM TO 7 PM USE ALT. ROUTE," were placed at the end of last week. Two signs will also be placed on Route 15/James Madison Highway, two will placed on Route 55/John Marshall Highway.
