According to the office of Brentsville District Supervisor W.S. Wally Covington III, crews must blast in order to prepare for construction of a soccer park located between Glenkirk Road and the Rollins Ford Road extension.

"The crews must blast down through approximately 18 feet of rock to prepare the land for construction," his office wrote in a release.

Blasting is reportedly expected to continue for several weeks to up to two months.

"This park will be constructed on a 64 acre proffered parcel of land located on the newly constructed section of Rollins Ford Road," they said.

Originally announced as a soccer complex, the park will feature a soccer stadium, five additional soccer fields, a playground, parking, league building and trails.

The Rollins Ford Road extension project extends from Vint Hill Road in a northeastern direction 4,300 feet to the existing intersection of Songsparrow Drive and Yellow Hammer Drive.
