Supervisors Praise GHBL World Series Attendance

For the second time in two years, the Gainesville Haymarket Baseball League 14-year-old All-Star Team is heading to the Babe Ruth World Series.

The team, comprised of athletes from Haymarket, Gainesville and Bristow; representing Battlefield, Patriot and Fauquier High Schools as well as Bull Run and Gainesville Middle Schools and managed by Jim Whitt, earned their trip to the World Series by winning the Virginia State Championship in early July 2015.

They went on to win the Southeast Championship in Jupiter, Florida by defeating Tennessee Aug. 1, 2015.

“We are all very proud of the young men representing the Gainesville/Haymarket area,“ Gainesville Ditsrict Supervisor Pete Candland said. “This accomplishment shows their dedication to their sport but also the dedication of their coaches and parents who put in countless hours supporting their kid’s dreams. We all will be following them closely and wish them great success.”

Brentsville District Supervisor Jeanine Lawson also praised the team.

“Congratulations to all the young men on this team for their impressive championship wins," Lawson said. “we’re so proud to have these talented, hardworking young athletes representing our area, and we wish them luck at the World Series. “
