UPDATED: Suspects Arrested for Multiple Weekend Incidents of Assaults on PW Police Officers

policecrusiercloseThere were an unusually high number of assaults on Prince William police officers recently, four this past weekend, with incidents occurring in Haymarket, Manassas and Woodbridge.

According to police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok, the police consider these incidents to be unconnected.

Update: In addition to the four instances of assault and battery on law enforcement officers that occurred over the weekend, there were also two separate incidents on Nov. 27 that took place in the Manassas region of Prince William County.

Asssault & Battery of Law Enforcement Officer, Following a Disorderly Conduct Call

Prince William officers responded to a residence located on Ancient Oak Court in Manassas (20111), Thursday at 9 p.m., to investigate a disorderly call.

The call resulted in arresting Fenando Javier Arraya, 46, of Speedwell Court in Manassas. Arraya was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and public intoxication.

Officers arrived and located the accused outside the residence.

“Officers further learned that the accused was intoxicated and had been involved in a domestic assault, which took place in another jurisdiction shortly before this incident,” Officer Perok said.

While officers were attempting to gather more information, the accused became agitated and pushed one of the officers. Following a brief struggle, the accused was eventually detained without further incident.

Minor injuries were reported.

Arraya is being held without bond. His court date has been set for Feb. 6, 2015.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Following a Domestic Assault

Prince William Police Officers responded to a residence located on Charles Lacy Drive in Manassas (20112), Thursday at 3:54 p.m., to investigate a domestic assault.

While at the residence the arrested Christopher Wilson Hernandez, 32, of Charles Lacy Drive in Manassas. Wilson was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, domestic assault and battery and resisting arrest.

The victim, a 59-year-old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance following a verbal altercation.

“The accused actively resisted when officers attempted to arrest him. At one point, the accused struck one of the officers in the face,” Perok said.

After a brief struggle, the accused was eventually detained without further incident. Minor injuries were reported.

Hernandez is being held without bond. His court date is set for Feb. 6, 2015.

Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer at Haymarket Residence 

A Centreville man resisted arrest and assaulted an officer after fleeing a Haymarket home he reportedly attempted to burglarize Sunday.

Prince William police officers responded to the 6400 block of Ashby Grove Loop in Haymarket to investigate a burglary in progress Nov. 30 at 3:15 a.m.

Officers arrested Beau Michael Rabung, 20, of Lilva Drive in Centreville, who police charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, unreasonable refusal and obstruction of justice.

According to Perok, the homeowner reported to police that he was asleep inside his home when he woke to a sound coming from a window. Upon checking the residence, the homeowner observed a suspect fleeing through his backyard.

No entry had been made into the residence, and no property was reported missing, he said.

“A responding officer located an intoxicated man in a running vehicle near the home of the reported burglary. Officers made contact and identified the driver as the accused,” Perok said.

At that point, police say the accused resisted arrest.

“The accused actively resisted when officers attempted to arrest him. At one point, the accused kicked one of the officers multiple times,” Perok said. “After a brief struggle, the accused was eventually detained without further incident.”

Minor injuries were reported. The burglary incident is still under investigation.

A court date has been set for January 28, 2015. Rabung’s bond of $5,000 has been secured.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer at Manassas Restaurant

UPDATED Jan. 22, 2021: This portion of the article has been updated as the suspect was never prosecuted. 

Officers responded to Costa Real restaurant located at 8423 Sudley Road in Manassas to investigate a disorderly call Nov. 30 at 12:30 a.m. They arrested a 30-year-old Manassas man.

Police charged the suspect with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and assault and battery on a rescue personnel.

Officers arrived at the location to assist rescue personnel with an intoxicated individual, later identified as the accused.

“During the medical transport, the accused spat on a member of the rescue staff," Perok said. “The accused was also able to free his hands and strike an officer aiding in the transport.”

No injuries were reported. Following the encounter, the accused was arrested.

The suspect's court date has been set for Jan. 28, 2015. His bond of $1,000 has been secured.

The suspect later demonstrated to Bristow Beat that he was not prosecuted for the alleged crime. His personal information has been expunged from the article.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer at Sentara Medical Center 

Prince William police officers responded to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center located at 2300 Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge to investigate a disorderly call Nov. 29 at 5:59 p.m.

Police arrested Reginald Lance Bailey, 24, of Ebb Tide Court in Dumfries. Bailey was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and assault and battery.

“The investigation revealed that a patient, later identified as the accused, became disorderly while being treated at the facility,” Perok said. “During the encounter, the accused struck a member of the hospital staff before removing his clothing and running around the ER.”

An officer on an unrelated call at the hospital attempted to detain the accused and was assaulted. Additional officers also responded and were eventually able to take the accused into custody.

Minor injuries were reported.

Bailey is being held without bond. His court date is set for Jan. 20,2015.

Officer Assaulted in Haymarket, Responding to Civilian Assault 

Prince William police officers responded to a residence located in the 6500 block of Atkins Way in Haymarket (20169) to investigate an assault on Nov. 28 at 11 a.m.

Officers arrested Christopher Steven Hall, 19, of Atkins Way, Haymarket, and charged him with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, assault and battery and destruction of property.

The victim, a 49-year-old woman of Haymarket, reported to police that she was assaulted by the accused, an acquaintance, following a verbal altercation.

“The accused was subsequently arrested and placed in the back seat of a police cruiser,” Perok said. “At that point, the accused was able to reposition and kicked a rear window of the cruiser.”

An officer standing near the cruiser issued commands to the accused to stop kicking the window. The accused kicked the window a second time, causing the glass to shatter. As a result, glass chards struck the officer causing minor lacerations to his arm and head. The officer was treated at the scene.

Hall is being held without bond. His court date is set for Jan. 27, 2015.
