T. Clay Wood Elementary Mourns Passing of Namesake

The administration of T. Clay Wood Elementary school announced this morning on their Facebook page that lifelong Nokesville resident and the namesake of the elementary school died this weekend.

"It is with a sad heart that I pass on the news of Mr. T. Clay Wood's passing," a school offical said. "He was 97 years old and went peacefully in his sleep"

An active member of the community, Mr. Wood was a member Nokesville Ruritans for 75 years and was a founding member of the Gainesville Ruritan Club.

At the dedication ceremony of the elementary school, he said “This is quite something; I feel deeply honored."

The school reports that his funeral will held Thursday, May 7 at 12:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church on Aden Road. The viewing and visitation will be from 6p.m. - 8p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at Pierce Funeral Home.

"Our thoughts are with Mr. Wood's family and friends at this sad time," they said.
