Original Story:

A Manassas man and woman reported to police that they were approached Dec. 26. by three teenaged males who brandished what appeared to be handguns and stole their car.

However, less than an hour later, police recovered the car at the Portsmouth Road McDonald's occupied by 12-17-year-old individuals, who police charged and arrested.

The guns used in the carjacking were reported to be stolen BB guns.

According to the victims, a 41-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, both of Manassas, they had just parked their vehicle in front of their residence in the 7900 block of Community Drive in Manassas when three unknown males approached the vehicle.

“Two of the males displayed handguns and ordered the victims from their vehicle,” police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "Two of the males then got into the vehicle and fled the area while the remaining suspect fled on foot.”

The suspects did not injure the victims, he said.

At 10:30 p.m. police located the car in the drive-thru of the McDonald's.

“As officers approached the vehicle, four of the individuals, including the driver, fled on foot. The vehicle was left in the drive position and continued forward, striking a concrete pillar before stopping,” Perok said.

Police determined the three suspects who were unable to exit the backseat of the car were not involved in the carjacking.

“A police K-9 was utilized in a search for the remaining suspects. The K-9 located one of suspects nearby, a 17-year-old male of Manassas, where he was detained without further incident,” he said.

Detectives from the robbery unit identified and located the three remaining suspects at an address on Albemarle Drive. Two of the individuals, a 12-year-old male of Manassas and a 14-year-old male of Sterling, were determined to be involved in the initial carjacking.

“The investigation further revealed that the two of the males involved in the carjacking had met up with the other individuals at the Manassas Mall following the carjacking. There, a 13-year-old female, drove the stolen vehicle to the McDonald's, where they encountered police,” he said.

Police charged the 12 and 14-year-old males of Manassas with carjacking and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

A 13-year-old female was charged with receiving stolen property, destruction of property and reckless driving, and a 17-year-old-male of Manassas with receiving stolen property.

Police are looking for the third suspect in the carjacking, a black male, approximately 17-years-old, who is 5’9,” has a thin build, and a tear drop tattoo under his left eye and a lazy right eye.
