Temps at Dangerous Levels, Local Shelters Established

Posted

The Wind Chill Advisory is in full effect and temperatures are dropping quickly in the region.

Forecasters say temperatures could dip to 5 degrees overnight through Tuesday morning and wind chills could reach 10 to 15 degrees below zero. These conditions are ideal for cases of frostbite and hypothermia.

Residents who are in need of a warm shelter from the extremely dangerous cold are directed to two local shelters.

The City of Manassas has opened a warming shelter at Osbourn High School, located at 9005 Tudor Lane in Manassas.

Grace United Methodist Church, located at 9750 Wellington Road in Manassas, has also established a warming shelter, which will be open through Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7 a.m.

Temperatures should improve Wednesday where highs around 30 degrees are expected.
