UPDATED: Hazmat Crew Cleans Fuel Spill Following Tractor-Trailer Crash on Route 29

According to the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue, an 18-wheeler was hit from behind by another tractor-trailer early Friday morning.

There were no reported injuries.

Emergency units were dispatched at 2:29 a.m. to Lee Highway and Crescent Park Drive, DFR Communications Specialist Kim Y. Hylander said.

Upon reports that a fuel line ruptured with spill, crews called a Hazmat team to the accident scene.

"A private Hazmat clean up company was called by the responsible party," Hylander said. "DFR crews released upon arrival of private Hazmat clean up company at 7:18 a.m."

The right lane remains closed as of 6 a.m. on northbound Route 29 passed Route 15 in Gainesville  following an accident involving two tractor trailers overnight.

According to sources, hazmat crews are on the scene of the accident cleaning up a minor fuel spill.

Fire & Rescue crews estimate that the lane will reopen within an hour.

The accident occurred approximately 2:30 a.m.
