UPDATED: Police Arrest Manassas Gas Station Owner for Sexual Battery

Prince William County Police have arrested Raceway Gas Station Owner Jaliya Dhammika Weeramunda, 52, of Manassas Thursday on charges of sexual battery.

According to police, Weeramunda was wanted in connection with a sexual battery that occurred at his business Tuesday.

Weeramunda's court date is May 9, 2016 and he was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Prince William Police are searching for a Manassas man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman, at the Sudley Raceway Gas Station in Manassas April 5.

Jaliya Dhammika Weeramunda, 52, of Manassas, is accused of the crime of sexual battery in connection with the incident.

Police describe him as a white male, 5’6” 220 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes.

Police spokesperson Officer Alex Eguino, said the victim, a 26-year-old Manassas woman, reported to police that she was in the Sudley Road vicinity when she was approached Weeramunda, an acquaintance.

“During the encounter, the accused spoke briefly to the victim before he inappropriately touched her,” Eguino said. “The parties were eventually separated and police were contacted.”

No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, police obtained a warrant for Weeramunda's  arrest.
