UPDATED: NWS Upgrades Flood Watch to Warning

The Flood Watch has been upgraded to a Warning, which is in effect until 9:15 a.m. Friday morning.

"At 4:34 a.m., the National Weather Service Doppler Radar has indicated that between 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen across the warned area," NWS said. "Additional rainfall amounts around 1 inch are expected early this morning."

An additional inch of rain is expected this morning.

According to the weather service, the rainfall will cause creeks and streams to rise out of their banks.

"A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow," they said. "However, all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately."

The National Weather Service is monitoring a line of severe thunderstorms near the area, capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the area until 8 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the area from 12 a.m. through 6 p.m. Friday.

The weather service expects showers and thunderstorms, with periods of heavy rain, to develop Thursday afternoon and continue through Friday morning, bringing 2 to 3 inches of rainfall

Flash flooding is possible, especially along small rivers and streams.

"A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation," NWS said.

One forecaster reports that there is a chance for at least isolated severe thunder showers with damaging winds being the main threat and a t least a low tornado risk.
