Posted

detourWhile The Virginia Department of Transportation canceled Friday night's planned closure of Route 28/Nokesville Road between Bristow Village Boulevard and Battalion Square due to weather concerns, the road will be closed Sunday, June 28 to 4 a.m. Monday, June 29 as scheduled to continue storm sewer line work.

“The storm sewer line installation is part of Prince William County’s $69.9 million Route 28 widening project,” VDOT spokesperson Jenni McCord said. “Phase One, which involves relocating Vint Hill Road to Route 28’s intersection with Infantry Lane and widening Route 28 to six lanes between Linton Hall Road and the relocated Vint Hill Road, is scheduled for completion in July 2016.”

Phase two of construction, which will see Route 28 widened to four lanes between the new Vint Hill Road and Fitzwater Drive, is scheduled to begin in March 2016 and has an estimated completion date of December 2017.
