VDOT Holds Public Info Meeting About Brentsville Road Bridge Rehabilitation

The Virginia Department of Transportation invites the public to hear about the Route 649/Brentsville Road bridge rehabilitation that will close the bridge and detour traffic for six months.

"The bridge superstructure will be replaced to accommodate two 12-ft. travel lanes and a shoulder on each side; the roadway approaching the bridge will be adjusted, and cracks at piers and abutments will be repaired," officials said. "To complete the work as early, quickly, and safely as possible, the bridge will be temporarily closed and a detour route will be provided."

VDOT said they would delay the start of the six-month project until the end of the school year to limit inconvenience to families.

"School transportation staff is reviewing temporary school bus pick-up/drop off location at the Brentsville Road and Lucasville Road intersection for children who live south of the bridge," they said. "If you have K-12 children who ride the school bus, your attendance at this public meeting is encouraged, as VDOT and County representatives will be available to answer questions and provide further details."

The Public Information Meeting on the bridge rehabilitation is scheduled for Oct 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Brentsville District High School, located at 12109 Aden Road in Nokesville.
