UPDATED: NWS Issues Freezing Rain Advisory for Friday Commute

The National Weather Association has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for the area from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

"Untreated surfaces will be icy and slippery particularly during the morning commute," NWS warns.

Temperatures will hover around 30 degrees.

The National Weather Service forecasts mixed precipitation after 3 a.m tonight, turning to freezing rain by dawn Friday.

The NWS expects little or no snow accumulation; although, ice accumulation is possible during the morning rush hour.

"High pressure overhead today will move offshore tonight; a weak disturbance will move through the Mid-Atlantic states late tonight into Friday," NWS said. "A period of snow overnight will likely transition to freezing rain or all rain."

Friday temperatures will be in the 40's with rain continuing into Saturday.

"Temperatures will warm to 55-65 degrees across the region Saturday with a half-inch to an inch of rain expected," they said.
