LETTER: Thank you Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department

Posted
Dear Editor:
Yesterday while traveling west on Linton Hall Road, some debris or something was in the road, punctured my tire and one of my tires immediately blew and went flat. Luckily no traffic was around me and I quickly pulled over. As I was figuring out what to do, members of the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department just happened to be driving by and pulled over in their truck. They were just on the way to pick up some dinner, they said, and offered to help. They quickly changed my tire!
.
Many years ago I worked for a federal law enforcement agency, and I know people like this--people who give their time and service in the name of public safety-- are the unsung heroes. They don't ask for credit, in fact they declined my request to take a picture of all of them, but our public safety people deserve recognition and thanks. To think in this case it's a volunteer job!
.
My hats off to the fine people of the NVFD. You saved my day and restored my faith in humanity.
.
Sincerely,
Kristine M. Denholm
