On May 5, Comics & Gaming on 7556 Gardner Park Drive in Gainesville is joining comic book stores across the nation in Free Comic Book Day, a day when participating comic book specialty shops give away comic books to customers. According to store owner Thomas Chillemi "It's a great opportunity to introduce comic books to new readers, and to introduce our store to new customers." The store will have over 10,000 free comics featuring characters such as the Avengers, Justice League, Spider-Man, and Superman to give to customers. "There are also special giveaways for Free Comic Book Day like an exclusive movie Thor Heroclix piece.  We will have everything set up block-party style with snacks, door prizes, special sales, and much more," Chillemi said. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m and will be set up outside until nightfall, if weather permits. Comics & Gaming, a haven for comic book and gaming fans, opened in 2004. The store carries comic books from all publishers, and gaming products from Magic the Gathering, Heroclix, Pokemon, Dungeons & Dragons, and others. "The store offers in-store gaming seven nights a week, and hosts special tournaments most weekends.  In addition to stocking a full range of new comics, we also have a back stock of thousands of issues.  Whatever you're looking for, we either have it or we can get it," he said.
